Vampires have their own page.
Becoming a werewolf
With the Companions, in The Silver Hand. The werewolf perks (Manbeast) are in Perks.
Beast form
- It lasts 150 seconds of real time; you're warned 15 seconds before it ends. Werewolf Transformation Timer shows the time left on screen.
- Feeding on a person adds 20 seconds, on a creature 10. The Gorging perk adds 10 more for a person, 5 for a creature.
- Cursed: as a werewolf, when your health drops under 20% in a fight, you heal and turn into the beast instead of dying. Once a day, and not while you're already transformed or a vampire.
- The three totems in The Underforge each give a blessing:
- Blessing of the Bone: In beast form you shrug off 50% of all damage while power attacking.
- Blessing of the Skin: In beast form your claws take 150 off an enemy's armour rating for 10 seconds.
- Blessing of the Skull: In beast form the wait between howls is 25% shorter.
The beast's hunger
Werewolf Hunger: while you stay in human form the beast gets hungrier, by 60 at each check, or by 150 under a full moon. Checks come every 30 hours when it's sated, 24 when restless, 12 when growling and 6 when starved, except the first check after you reach growling, which comes after 6 hours, and the first after you reach starved, after 12: the mod swaps those two as a stage begins. Each kill you feed on in beast form takes 30 off.
| Hunger | From | While you're a werewolf |
|---|---|---|
| Sated | 0 | +50 health and stamina |
| Restless | 125 | +25 health and stamina |
| Growling | 200 | −25 health, magicka, stamina |
| Starved | 250 | −50 health, magicka, stamina |
Its menu has a Lesser Beast Form option: then you can only change at a full moon, below half health, wearing Hircine's Ring, or when the beast isn't full. It starts off.

People the records alone don't show:
- Aela the Huntress: a werewolf of the Circle. In The Silver Hand she waits for you in the Underforge already in wolf form, when she offers you her blood.
- Aela with FDE Aela installed: she also turns into a werewolf to fight on either side of Ill Met by Moonlight, and FDE gives you a power to whistle her into wolf form.
- Farkas: a werewolf of the Circle. He is always the one sent to watch you in Proving Honor, and he changes in front of you when the Silver Hand ambush you in Dustman's Cairn.
- Vilkas, Skjor and Kodlak Whitemane: the rest of the Circle, werewolves by the story, but no quest or script makes them change where you can see it.
- Farkas and Vilkas can be cured: after Glory of the Dead, Purity takes one of them to the Tomb of Ysgramor with a Glenmoril Witch's head. With At Your Own Pace in GTS, Vilkas asks first and Farkas the second time. Each brother's beast side is a separate wolf spirit record.
- Sinding: a werewolf in Falkreath's jail. Once he hands you the ring, he changes into a werewolf in front of you and breaks out. When Hircine's spirit first speaks to you after the hunt, the man from the jail is swapped for a second record of him in Bloated Man's Grotto, already in wolf form; you choose there whether to hunt him or defend him.
- Sinding as a follower (Authentic Sinding Follower): he turns into a werewolf when you ask him to. As GTS ships it he also changes whenever you take beast or Vampire Lord form, and changes back after a fight; changing when badly hurt is off. These are options in the mod's menu. He can be cured through the mod's own quest.
- Arnbjorn: the Dark Brotherhood's werewolf. In Death Incarnate his wolf form is a separate record that appears in the Sanctuary; if you destroy the Brotherhood instead, he changes as soon as he starts fighting.
- Hjordis and Rakel of the Frostmoon pack (Frostmoon Crag, Solstheim): ordinary Nords until the pack turns on you. Hjordis changes once Majni falls, Rakel once Akar falls.
- Majni and Akar, the leaders of the Frostmoon pack, change into werewolves as soon as a fight with you starts. They are ordinary Nords before that.
- Harsvar (Beyond Skyrim: Bruma): a man who slips out into the wilds, becomes a werewolf for about four hours, then changes back.
- Angmir in Brimspire Cavern: a bandit boss who becomes a werewolf when you get close or hit him.
- The werewolves of Wyrmstooth: they look like people (their name already says Werewolf) and change once a fight with you or your companions begins. Some live at the werewolf camp and Herman's Holdout.
- Werewolves in human form near Bruma (Beyond Skyrim): Imperials named Werewolf who change when you come close.
- Strangers on the road: several random encounters have an ordinary-looking person turn into a werewolf - a traveller (Extended Encounters), a hunter (Dawnguard and Dragonborn encounters), a farmer who kills his family (Dawnguard), a frightened man hiding at night (Beyond Skyrim: Bruma), a prisoner led by Vigilants and a wounded wanderer (Immersive Encounters). Immersive Encounters also has two strangers who change into a werewolf and a werebear and fight each other.
- Erik, Ivar and Bjorn (Tree Contract Mod) have only their werewolf records: there is no separate human record for any of them to link to.
- Forsworn skin-changers (Madmen): Forsworn of the looter and Briarheart ranks who turn into a werewolf or, less often, a werebear. Nothing waits for a fight: the looter kind change whenever they are not casting or attacking, the Briarheart kind only while a cloak spell is on them, and the Briarheart kind become werebears more often.
Werewolves you meet as enemies: Werewolf, Werewolf Beastmaster, Werewolf Brute, Werewolf Savage, Werewolf Skinwalker, Werewolf Tyrannus, Werewolf Vargr.
Who is a werebear
| Who | Race | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Berserker | Werebear | Skyrim (appears later) |
| Berserker Spirit | Werebear | Roaring Cavern (appears later) |
People the records alone don't show:
- Torkild, Wulf Wild-Blood's brother (Filial Bonds, Solstheim): you meet him as a man in the wilds; talking to him makes him turn into a werebear.
- Werebears of Solstheim's tribes: Nords named Werebear who change once they are fighting you and you get close.
- Ingar (Tales of Skyrim - Berserkyr): a berserker carrying the Berserker's Curse, which turns its bearer into a werebear when badly hurt. His werebear form in the quest is also a separate record.
- Berserkers (Tales of Skyrim - Berserkyr): the mod's roaming berserkers carry the same curse and become werebears when badly hurt.
- The Cultists of DS Quest Pack's first quest: GTS's own patch makes them Berserkyr berserkers, so they too become werebears when badly hurt.
Werebears you meet as enemies: Werebear.
From base GTS 118's own files: the werewolf quest's own settings, the hunger stage spells and the scripts that run them (GTS's patched copies where it has them), read when this page is built. Your own add-ons can change any of this; they aren't counted here.
